African Train Lodge is a budget accommodation situated in the city centre of Cape Town, South Africa. It consists of ten tastefully restored and refurbished railway coaches. They have been placed on each side of a long platform, at the old Monument Station at Cape Town. The platform has not been altered, but a beautiful lodge has been built around it.

Accommodation
The accommodation is in 2- and 4- berth compartments (single bed) and we have just finished our brand new double bedrooms. Bathroom facilities have been built behind and separate from the coaches.    

Dining
The relaxed ambience and railway setting exude the X-Press Cafe and restaurant charm. Enticing aromas waft from the kitchen where classic yet tasty food is prepared for every occasion. While you decide to what order, why not sip on a cold beverage or order one of our many cocktails we have to offer. Try our own special Thai Chicken salad or carefully grilled steak with our own homemade mushroom or cheese sauce.

Entertainment
The Train Lodge also offers a Travel centre, were we can satisfy all your needs to explore Cape Town form site seeing till adventure activities; a lounge were you can relax or play a game of pool. You can sit by our swimming pool and enjoy the Cape Town sun. We also have an internet cafe, so that you can keep in touch with the people back home.  Hear the traditional sounds of the large steam engines as they arrive and depart next door. See the incredible beauty of Cape Town's Table Mountain from the pool deck, it's an astonishing view.
