The Buffelsdrift Game Lodge experience...
The Lodge offers guests a true African experience in the lap of luxury
in a safe, malaria-free environment. Luxury accommodation, a restaurant and
conference facilities that meet international standards are available to
visitors and corporate guests. A charming wedding chapel at the water’s edge
is the ideal setting for romantic African country weddings.
A wide variety of game, bird and plant species are indigenous to this area
and visitors will spot elephant, rhino, buffalo, hippo, Cape Mountain zebra,
giraffe and other antelope.
Pristine bushveld, lush
vegetation and a 5 ha natural waterhole create a haven for a variety of game
species and more than 217 bird species.
Situated 7 km outside Oudtshoorn,
the Lodge is in the heart of ostrich country, half-an-hour’s drive from the
Swartberg Mountain Nature Reserve and the isolated valley of Gamkaskloof. It
lies on the famous Route 62 and is part of the scenic circle route –
Oudtshoorn – the Swartberg Mountain Pass – via the historic village of
Prince Albert – through the spectacular Meiringspoort gorge as entrance to
the quaint village of De Rust.
The luxury tents, conference venue, restaurant and wedding chapel are on the
edge of the waterhole and offer breathtaking views of the Klein Karoo.
Trained guides will escort guest
on an early morning or later afternoon bush safari with a pitstop at one of
the lookout points – presenting the perfect opportunity for spectacular
photographs. Walk with an elephant in the late afternoon to the waterhole
and see the sun set on the horizon.
Elephant feeding offers an opportunity to interact with our elephants and
get to know these gentle giants. Early birds can take a guided nature walk
into the veld to appreciate the splendour of indigenous Karoo succulents and
fynbos or catch up on their bird watching.
Ice-cold sundowners served on the
lookout deck next to the open-air bar mark the end of a perfect day with the
sun setting over the mountains.
