Catering and Bed & Breakfast accommodation offers an atmosphere of history

Facilities
Tourist information on places to
visit in and around Cape Town is readily available at the Guest House. Stop
in at our information centre for maps and details of other hotels, as well
as for advice on where to go and on how to travel in and around the city.
With prior arrangement, we will happily assist you in booking a rental car
or airport pick up before you arrive. We accept payments by local bank
transfer; cash in South African Rand, or Visa and MasterCard Credit cards.
Breakfast at De Waterkant Place
Guest House is served to your room. You might choose to enjoy it there, or
in the dining room upstairs. Better still, why not take breakfast on the
terrace where you can watch Cape Town come to life while you contemplate the
day to come over your morning tea or freshly brewed coffee. Businessmen and
early risers will be pleased to know that at De Waterkant Place Guest House
breakfast is delivered between 7 and 7:30 depending on the season.
Vegetarians will be accommodated with pleasure so please advise us of your
preference prior to your arrival at the guesthouse.
The Guest House is recognised by
the Cape Town City Council as a historical building. During South Africa's
Apartheid days, world-renowned author, Bessie Head, once lived in Room 4.
Before the Dutch reclaimed the land from the sea, Loader street was named
thus as it was the site at which the ships were loaded! The sense of history
remains intact on Dixon Street, narrow, steep and still cobbled. Within the
Guest House, a specially hand crafted wooden staircase follows your passage
through the building. Above it, skylights allow the Cape Town sunshine in,
and below, a warm carpet runner muffles your steps.
Winter or summer, De Waterkant
Place Guest House remains comfortable and inviting. During Cape Town's hot
summer months, large colonial sash windows and ceiling fans keep the breeze
circulating through the Guest House rooms and common areas. In the more cosy
Cape Town winters, De Waterkant Place Guest House offers snug accommodation
with individually controlled under floor heating. The thick white towels and
100% cotton bedding are of the highest quality and add an element of
seductive comfort to your stay.
On the top floor of the Guest
House you might choose to unwind on a soft leather couch with a book, or
take in the fresh air on one of the balconies. This is the perfect spot to
relax any time of the day. You could share sundowners or a BBQ while you
bask in Cape Towns' friendly South African sunshine or watch night fall on
the city.
Our check in time is 2pm and check out is at 11am. These times may be
flexible if pre-arranged and are subject to the availability of the rooms.
We hope to host you in our
favourite City and will do our best make you stay with us comfortable,
enjoyable and memorable.
