Marlinspike is situated above the colourful Fisherman's village of Hout Bay, with spectacular, uninterrupted views of the yacht marina, the fishing harbour, Chapman's Peak and Hout Bay beach. Hout Bay offers mountain walks, boat rides, sailing, deep sea fishing, diving, horse riding, and a host of good restaurants and pubs. Start the day with fresh fruit salad, cereal, toast, fruit juice and coffee or tea, or a hot breakfast, with eggs of your choice (fried, boiled, poached, scrambled or omelette). Additionally you may choose to have Kippers, Haddock (actually smoked hake in South Africa), or lightly fried thinly sliced smoked salmon). You may be pressured into trying our now world famous rooibos tea, a fermented tea, made from the leaves of a bush that's endemic to an area about 2 hours drive up the West Coast from Cape Town. This tea (when made the traditional way), is extremely tasty, full of anti oxidants, and has 0% caffeine, but somehow it's still addictive. Our cosy lounge and pub, where we serve, amongst other things, Tetley Bitter, a traditional Yorkshire Bitter, with a fire in the fireplace on those cold (+4C) winter nights, are perfect for sharing the day's experiences. Dinner and Lunch are served on request, but as the host (who also serves as barman & cook, but does not do dishes), is a fish eating vegetarian, seafood and vegetarian fare is on offer, while meat and poultry is not. We offer fresh cape rock lobster, mussels, line fish, or other seafood delicacies.
