“Sorgh Vliet Lodge is situated in the valley of Hout Bay. From all aspects of the garden we have wonderful views of the mountains, and from the veranda one looks across the tree tops and it is as if the mountain is in the garden. The beautiful skies, the passing clouds, mist descending and a galaxy of stars in the night sky all give a feeling of peace, belonging and eternity.
“Sorgh” means care and here we care for one another, our guests, our animals, and nature and through caring we hope to create a feeling of being at home. “Vliet” means water, either a mere or stream and our little bit of river embankment and babbling brook is a quiet and cool setting to dream………
We are a small guesthouse with only 3 open-plan cottages, 2 double which are self-catering, and 1 single B&B cottage. The main lodge has a double and single B&B room, both with en-suite bathroom. However all our guests are welcome to enjoy breakfast on the veranda.
Guests are asked to use our side entrance off “Welbevind Way”, this makes parking easier and close to the cottages and it is secure. The double cottages open directly onto a paved area and swimming pool on the one side and on the other side, they open onto a small veranda overlooking the stables and paddocks, which lead down to the Disa River.
We (Mike and Lindy) are the relatively new owners of Sorgh Vliet Lodge. Blessing is our gardener and handyman and Monica is our housekeeper. We are most fortunate as they are generous with their smiles, their laughter and their helpfulness.
Our 4-footers Wally, Floortje and Diesel are companionable and alert. Their job is to welcome you and make certain that the property is guarded, day and night. This they do diligently always making sure the guests can come and go safely and that Sorgh Vliet Lodge retains its atmosphere of peace and relaxation.” |
