”The bliss is in the detail: fluffy white towels and gowns, roses freshly picked from the garden, desks that encourage reflection, porcelain and wood, deep drapes, snug chairs and generous eiderdowns. These are rooms that are hard to leave.” Kate Shaw

Set amongst the vineyards of a private wine estate in the shadow of Cape Town's Table Mountain, the highly acclaimed Constantia Uitsig Hotel is just twenty minutes from the city centre and Waterfront.

Constantia Uitsig’s tranquil setting, excellent service and heartfelt hospitality are enhanced by its splendid location on a working wine farm. The hotel has sixteen garden rooms furnished with elegant simplicity and sweeping views of the Constantia Valley.

There is easy access to beautiful vineyard walks and mountain hikes, horse-riding, mountain biking, splendid golf courses, spas and charming shopping venues. Combined with a great gourmet experience and an array of Constantia Uitsig Wines on your doorstep, your stay will be that of sheer sensory indulgence.

Each Restaurant - Constantia Uitsig, La Colombe and The River Cafe - has its own distinctive and clearly defined style, but what they all share is inspiration, passion and an unparalleled joie de vivre. Frank Swainston's European sophistication, Franck Dangereux's sublime instincts and Johan van Schalkwyk’s daring, delicious flavour combinations, all invite your repeated return.

The Valley Constantia Uitsig, Groot Constantia, Klein Constantia, Buitenverwachting and Steenberg – the five producers making up the Constantia Wine Route – are big in quality, rich in a unique terroir, and boast a wine-making history dating back to 1685.

The valley is the cradle of quality wine-making in South Africa, and the name Constantia is linked with the most famous wines ever produced in this country. For over two centuries the wines of the valley were sought-after by royal courts and the aristocracy of Europe.

Today Constantia is seen as a benchmark of South African wine, identified in top-of-mind awareness as one of the Fine Wine Regions outside Europe. The significant awards garnered by producers over the last decade are testimony to the quality and consistently high standards of the wines.

Given its proximity to the city and easy accessibility, Constantia is truly Cape Town’s own Vineyard. The breathtaking rural beauty of a valley where vineyard rows stretch up the mountainside – within minutes of a capital city – is unique in today’s overcrowded world.

Constantia Uitsig Wines

"We went home, opened a bottle of Constantia Uitsig Wine and were flooded with memories of languid days in glorious sunshine. It was exquisite." Ben and Emma Norcott

Constantia Uitsig produces Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc, Semillon and Red and White Bordeaux blends- all noble cultivars ideally suited to the climate in the valley. With 30 hectares under vine, Constantia Uitsig produces 17 000 cases of superior wine a year.

All The Constantia Uitsig Wines received 4 stars and more in the John Platter Wine Guide 2005

“Andre can be so proud of his wines – what a great thing it is to produce a range of wines like yours and for it to be so difficult to decide which one likes best.” Michael Olivier
