Conferences
At Alphen, we understand the
success of your conference lies in our hands as much as in yours.
We take pride in being able to offer our guests not only a variety of
meeting rooms and Accommodation within the historic environment of a Cape
Dutch estate but also meticulous attention to detail, that makes a highly
successful and memorable occasion.
When you arrive at Alphen in the “mink and manure” area of Constantia near
Cape Town, you are guests in an 18th century National Monument, home of the
Cloete family since 1850.
Nowadays the requirements of a modern hotel blend unobtrusively with the
old; while old-fashioned service and hospitality remain our prime
objectives.
Conference and Banqueting Manager, Lourette van der Merwe will be your
telephone contact for enquiries and reservations and she will show you
around when you visit Alphen. She will be able to give you valuable advice
and help in organising your successful conference, and will be there to meet
you when you arrive.
Weddings
At the gateway to the Constantia
Valley, surrounded by extensive gardens lies the historic Alphen Hotel. It
has the charm and interest of a bygone era and the comfort, convenience and
superb cuisine of an exclusive contemporary hotel.
Since the eighteenth century, Alphen Hotel has been the centre of social
activity in the area. Different branches of the Cloete family owned most of
the great estates and were known for their hospitality. Today, Dudley and
Nicky Cloete-Hopkins continue the tradition. The Manor House now houses one
of the finest collections of antique furniture in private hands. It provides
the perfect backdrop for old-fashioned personal attention to guests that has
always characterized Cape Style.
While retaining the timeless grace that has made it famous, modern hotel and
conference rooms have been skilfully blended into the fabric of historic
buildings. The extensive grounds are a haven of peace and quiet broken only
by the ringing of the old slave bell at the end of the day. Guests will
notice areas that are being investigated by the archaeological department of
UCT.
A complimentary bedroom awaits you on your wedding night, which will include
a bottle of sparkling wine. |
