Mountains you will find Blue Gum Country Estate, a 5 star lodge, offering an
exciting alternative to guests wishing to explore the Overberg area.
Located outside of Stanford, 20kms beyond Hermanus, Blue gum offers an
alternative route, and destination, for those travelling to the garden
route, or for those escaping the city for a weekend. Travelling time from
Cape Town is just under 2 hours.
Deep in the countryside,
surrounded by 130 acres of wheat fields, vineyards and pastures, far from
roads and highways, its hard to believe that you are close to 20 nature
reserves and botanical gardens, 16 museums, 20 art shops and galleries, 24
beaches and over 100 restaurants.
Our surroundings encourage guests
to relax in the tranquil beauty of the mountainside or to stroll through the
vineyards and pastures and shady oaks. Our lawns are ideal for the pleasure
of an afternoon picnic, a bottle of wine or for simply dozing in a hammock.
Well placed benches are good vantage points from which to observe many of
our 110 bird species, to paint or photograph scenes which delight the eye.
Guests can relax and enjoy the
tranquil beauty of the estate, explore the mountainside or stroll through
the vineyards and pastures. Mountain bikes entice the energetic to explore
the dirt tracks along the base of the mountains.
Accommodation
Five mountain facing suites,
decorated in English country style, each with a fireplace, arm chairs and
private patio.
Five colonial African style
suites, situated in the Manor House. Each has its own private veranda,
overlooking the valley to the Klein Rivier mountains. The manor house has
its own lounge, library and veranda.
All 10 rooms have mini bar, Satellite television, bath and shower
facilities, beautiful views and access to gardens.
Dining
Enjoy delicious cuisine in the
dining room, and light lunches on the patio with views of fields and
mountains. Enjoy dinner by candlelight on the deck overlooking and valley.
We serve a large breakfast, light lunch and dinner. Afternoon tea may be
ordered in the conservatory. Depending on the weather, meals are served in
the dining room or on the patio overlooking the gardens and vineyards.
Nicole has earned an excellent
reputation for her food. Fresh local ingredients, inspired preparation and
attentive service make for an unsurpassable dining experience. She was
trained at the hotel school in granger Bay as a chef
Nicole has cooked for a number of international luminaries over the years,
among them Margaret Thatcher, Richard Branson and Michael Caine.
