| World of birds is one of the few large bird parks in the world, and one of the most exciting attractions Cape Town has to offer. It is a paradise for nature lovers and photographers and is unparalleled any where in the world. Over 3,000 birds (and small animals) of 450 different species are uniquely presented in more than 100 spacious and tropically landscaped walk-through aviaries which allow the most intimate closeness with nature. The birds behave just as they would in the wild - but without fear and the experience is unforgettable. They feed, sing, display, build nests, incubate eggs and feed their chicks right in front of your eyes. Each visit is a very special experience and differs with every season. You should allow for between 2 to 4 hours to walk through this spectacular world with its lush, tropical vegetation. Recent new additions are the Monkey Jungle where you may be greeted by one, or most probably many more, of the 37 Squirrel Monkeys from South America (open from 11h30 to 13h00 and from 14h00 to 15h00), and the walk-in enclosure with tortoises and wallabies. There are new displays with meerkats, mongooses, ground squirrels and porcupines, and glass-fronted displays with marmosets and tamarins, amongst them, the smallest monkeys in the world, the Pygmy Marmosets. Also new is the Magic Forest Walk with its fantasy ornaments for children and soft music. There is a well-equipped playground for small children under six. The very latest addition is the permanent Bromeliad Show with more than 1000 bromeliads and tillandsias of 50 different varieties, all from South America. These spectacular tropical plants from the South American forests are in a 50m long walk-through enclosure, where with luck, you may come across some White tufted ear Marmosets which live in this lush, natural environment.
