Nature Reserve Trail
A rewarding ecological experience combining the stark beauty of the Little Karoo with the rugged coastline of the Tsitsikamma National Park, and the well appointed private Reins Nature Reserve on the Southern Cape coast. Please note, this is not big game country, but provides an informal way of experiencing the diverse environments of the Cape through comfortable accommodation provided in a selection of it's Nature Reserves.
"Lone Star Route"
In direct contrast to the luxury of up market accommodation, and for those who would dare to be different. Experience the unique diversity of the Western Cape by means of selected One or Two Star country hotels that combine the benefits of low cost accommodation with a real opportunity to commune with the locals and experience their genuine brand of hospitality.
Off The Beaten Track
Essentially for visitors who either genuinely prefer to explore the lesser visited and even remote areas, or, for those individuals who having already visited the main tourist areas are returning to seek something different but equally appealing. Either way, creative itineraries can be constructed to provide a varied and rewarding holiday.
Coarse Golf Route
Designed specifically for the happy hackers of this life where the score at the " 19th" is marginally more important than the previous " 18"! Visiting a selection of friendly Country courses, the emphasis is on a pleasant travelling holiday experience in equal proportions to the Golf with opportunities to interact socially with the locals.
Whale Watching
Should your Cape Town or Garden Route tour co-incide with the annual migration of these gentle creatures of the ocean (July to November), then consider including a whale watching sector in your visit to South Africa. A combination of superb land based sites, together with a close up boat encounter, can make for an enriching and unforgettable experience. Hermanus, close to Cape Town, has some of the world's best land based viewing points, whilst the lesser visited De Hoop Nature Reserve can provide large numbers of calving Southern Right whales. This can be supplemented by excellent boat viewing areas such as St Helena Bay on the tranquil Cape West Coast, and at Plettenberg Bay in the heart of the Garden Route.
Luxury Schedules
For those discerning visitors who prefer the benefits of 5 star accommodation and its commensurate services, complemented by highly flexible schedules, and carried out utilising luxury sedan cars.
So, with the above as thought stimulators, give us an idea of your interests and preferences and allow us to design your personalised holiday itinerary.
South Africa's Cape areas with their 9 unique regions, provides a diversity of scenery and leisure activities that can satisfy the widest range of interests. The cultural heritage of South Africa is well represented throughout the Province, particularly around Cape Town, the 'Mother City'.
The vineyards of the Winelands provide a leisurely experience whilst sampling world class wines and observing the influence of the early European settlers, evident in the agricultural styles of the many small country towns.
Orchards, vineyards, rivers, and hot water springs are relaxing features of the Breede River Valley, complementing the ecologically friendly environment of the quiet West Coast, with it's quaint fishing villages and laid back lifestyle.
The rugged coastline of the Overberg, notorious for it's many shipwrecks, is the breeding ground of Whales and Great White Sharks, whilst the intricate canal systems and citrus fruit area of the Olifants River Valley, against the backdrop of the starkly beautiful Cedarberg Wilderness, is in direct contrast to the rolling wheatlands of the nearby Swartland region.
Completing the mosaic is the enchanting Garden Route, an area of indigenous forests, wilderness lakes, golden beaches, river gorges and the numerous mountain ranges and passes, leading to the arid Ostrich region of the uniquely different environment that is the little Karoo, complete with its visitor friendly Cango Caves and interesting ostrich farms.
Epitomising the very essence of Africa, the Great Karoo is a vast semi arid region of open spaces, brooding mountains, and unique hospitality of the country folk that inhabit the many small, almost lost in time, towns and villages. The moods of this fascinating environment are constantly changing, with crystal clear nights that can elevate star gazing to a different level. No South African tour can be considered complete without experiencing at least a little of this totally unclaustrophobic and major part of the country. From the Karoo National Park to the plains of Cambedo, this is a landscape where the horizons are infinite, and the footprints few.
Visiting the subcontinent invariably conjures up immediate thoughts of African safaris and abundant wildlife. This thought is not at all unrealistic as opportunities for a Big game experience are many and varied throughout South Africa. Whether the preference is for an exclusive private Game Reserve provided by some of the more luxurious lodges in the north of the country, or the more modestly priced facilities of South Africa's national parks, there is a broad selection to choose from. More recently, the addition of various species of game, including the "Big 5", to reserves and parks in the Cape areas has opened up the practical reality of fully inclusive, more relaxed and cost effective South African tours than was previously possible. |
